“The Heart’s a Funny Thing” published in Pinyon

So, this news is a little late, but I only found out recently that “The Heart’s a Funny Thing” was published in Pinyon‘s Spring 2024 issue! This journal publishes mostly poetry, some book reviews, and, in the case of this issue, only one piece of fiction. Yes, you read that right, folks. Hello! Just a short note to let you know that my short story “The Heart’s a Funny Thing” has been accepted for publication in Pinyon.

From their website: “PINYON is a national journal of poetry, prose, and art published at Colorado Mesa University that invites submissions from both established and emerging writers.”

They publish an annual issue, and the story is slated to appear this spring.

“Ports and Peaks, Rivers and Ruins” to appear in The Berlin Literary Review

Hi there! I hope that you’ve all been having a wonderful summer. On my end, I wanted to let you know that one of my short stories, “Ports and Peaks, Rivers and Ruins” was accepted for publication by The Berlin Literary Review.

From their website: “The Berlin Literary Review is an English-speaking journal of literature, and of the arts more generally. The magazine was founded in early 2023 by writers and artists living in Berlin, Germany. Our goal is not only to publish the current trend or flavour of the month, but to provide a platform to the very best new and established writers, regardless of subject matter.”

The story is slated to appear online in about a week or two. I’ll touch base again when it’s up!

“A Desert Would Do Fine” to appear in Pleiades

Hello! I just wanted to share with you a little good news. My short story, “A Desert Would Do Fine,” has been accepted for publication by Pleiades: Literature in Context!

From their website: “Pleiades: Literature in Context is a literary biannual featuring poetry, fiction, essays, and reviews by authors from around the world. Past contributors include winners of the Nobel, Ruth Lilly, Pulitzer, Bollingen, Prix de la Liberté, and Neustadt Prizes, recipients of Guggenheim, Whiting, National Book Critics Circle, and National Book Awards, and many writers seeing their work in print for the first time.“

The story is slated to appear in a physical issue in the fall of 2024.

“Habits of a Brokenhearted Man” to appear in Pembroke Magazine

Hello! I just wanted to share some good news with you all. My short story “Habits of a Brokenhearted Man” has been accepted for publication by Pembroke Magazine!

From their website: “Published at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Pembroke Magazine has been printed annually since its founding in 1969. It has grown from a student publication of forty-eight pages to a book-length publication international in scope, featuring poetry, fiction, nonfiction, interviews, and visual art from North Carolina, the United States, and beyond.”

The issue of the magazine my short story will appear in should come out in May of this year. And, folks, you read right, it’s a print issue. So if you want to read the short story, you’re going to have to shell out the big bucks 😉

“Flight” to appear in The Wrath-Bearing Tree

Hello and happy New Year to all! The new year has greeted me with the acceptance of my short story “Flight” by The Wrath-Bearing Tree.

From their website: “Established by combat veterans and maintained by a diverse board of veterans, military spouses, and writers compelled by themes of social justice and human resilience, The Wrath-Bearing Tree publishes essays, reviews, fiction, and poetry on military, economic, and social violence written by those who have experienced military, economic, and social violence or their consequences.”

The story is slated to appear in March 2022 online.
